We have a long-term relationship with the Girls Day School Trust and this project involved replacing existing buildings with a new three storey sustainable building, incorporating energy-efficient features such as photovoltaic panels to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve an EPC A Rating. We also installed a brand-new plant room and specialist classrooms including state of the art science labs. The conservation area site meant close collaboration with the client, architect and contractor, particularly for remodelling the Victorian main entrance building into a new Sixth Form. Here we provided automatic natural ventilation with CO2 controlled mechanical ventilation, plus air-conditioning.

Our largest project to date over two phases, this project involved replacing existing buildings in a conservation area with a three-storey sustainable building, incorporating energy-efficient features such as photovoltaic panels to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve an EPC A Rating. We also installed a pre-fabricated new plant room and specialist classrooms including state of the art science labs. The buildings have new office facilities, classrooms and specialist spaces such as a library, dining hall, staff changing rooms and children's changing room with 20 infrared operated showers. Here we provided automatic natural ventilation with CO2 controlled mechanical ventilation, plus air-conditioning.

ASHMOLE PRIMARY SCHOOL
SOUTHGATE, LONDON
This new 420-pupil North London school is a government-backed free school and on the same site as Ashmole Academy. We delivered all the mechanical and electrical aspects including children's toilets, disabled WCs and shower facilities, classroom sinks and cleaners' facilities. We also installed low surface temperature radiators, all lighting inside and out, general power facilities and services for kitchen machinery. Major plant included heat recovery units and boosted cold water services and specialist features included emergency lighting, fire alarm and security systems.

HAILEYBURY SCHOOL
CHESHUNT, HERTFORDSHIRE
We were involved with the design, installation and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical services of the new main building at Haileybury Turnford secondary school in the heart of Cheshunt. The project involved 12 classrooms, three science laboratories, a science preparation room, library, seminar room and staff offices and our installation included power and lighting, gas fired boiler and heating, electrical wiring and above-ground drainage. Specialist work also featured fume cupboards for science classrooms and natural ventilation systems within the classrooms.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON, PEARL
DAGENHAM, LONDON
University College London’s PEARL building in Dagenham, East London, is its first net zero carbon construction, with an A+ energy performance rating and potential to be carbon negative with the export of surplus energy from solar panels. Its sustainability features cover health and wellbeing, water efficiency and ecological management and we are proud to have developed the design to ensure it was finished on time in April 2021 despite Covid pandemic restrictions. We installed three large air sourced heat pumps, air conditioning and a complex Building & Energy Management System.

DOWNSHIRE HOUSE, UNIVERSITY OF ROEHAMPTON
WANDSWORTH, LONDON
We were pleased to get to grips with another niche building sector that is growing in importance in the UK: student accommodation. We worked on three new accommodation buildings at south west London's University of Roehampton, installing a central plant room that consisted of boilers with combined heat and power plant (CHP) feeding the heat interface units (HIUs). This serves the pre-fabricated bathroom pods of 94 ensuite single rooms, three of which are accessible, 28 ensuite double rooms and 86 ensuite single rooms with balconies.
